A webinar is a seminar that takes place online – on the web.
Instead of driving to a set location and sitting in a room with other participants while someone stands up the front and speaks, webinars allow you to participate from in front of your own computer. The webinar software runs in your web browser and allows you to view the slideshow and demonstration provided by the presenter as well as ask questions by typing them in.
All you need to join a webinar is a computer with an internet connection and a phone (preferably with handsfree or a headset).
To access the webinar in your web browser, you will need to download and install a small piece of software known as an ActiveX control. To ensure that you can join the event more quickly on the day, you can set up Event Manager before the event starts. Go to the Webex site and follow the prompts.
Note: You will need to have administrative rights on your computer to enable you to download and install the ActiveX control.
Once your registration is accepted you will receive an email from messenger@webex.com. Depending on your junk mail settings, this email may be trapped by your mail server or stopped by your local junk mail filter. If you do not get the email, please look in the Junk Mail folder in your Inbox or talk to your mail administrator.
Your confirmation email includes this information. Please store it in a safe place.
You will receive two reminders about the webinar. The first will arrive three days prior to the event and the second on the morning of the event. You can follow internet links in these emails to log in to the event.
